Field Service Technician (Maintenance) – Sheffield, UK (Fixed-Term, Minimum 30 Hours/Week)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential retail technology client in their search for a Field Service Technician to support maintenance operations across the Sheffield region. This is a fixed-term contract position for 6 months, working 30 hours per week, with the possibility of extension.

This role involves on-the-road work at customer sites throughout the region. You'll be maintaining and servicing installed hardware systems in retail environments, primarily during store opening hours with occasional overnight or weekend work required. A full valid UK driving licence and reliable transportation are essential.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, install, replace, and configure camera hardware systems at customer sites in accordance with company standards
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance checks to identify and address potential issues before they escalate
• Respond promptly to service calls and ensure customer service level agreements are consistently met
• Maintain accurate records of service activities, including work performed, parts used, and time spent using company-provided tools
• Onboard and scan products into operational systems as required
• Attend installations at various client locations during night hours when necessary
• Install hardware onto shelves, ceilings, and other retail equipment per installation plans and specifications
• Operate power tools safely and efficiently to complete maintenance and installation tasks
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks during all site visits
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure timely completion of scheduled work
• Meet or exceed speed and quality Key Performance Indicators consistently
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members, providing progress updates and addressing challenges encountered in the field

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Field Service Technician, preferably in field service, installation, construction, or a related technical field
• Strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues efficiently
• Proficiency in using power tools and installation equipment safely and effectively
• Physical stamina to work on your feet and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods (up to 9 hours)
• Excellent attention to detail to ensure maintenance work meets quality standards and adheres to specifications
• Strong time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Effective communication skills to liaise with supervisors, team members, and customers
• Full valid UK driving licence (required)
• Reliable transportation to travel to customer sites throughout the region
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends as required

Pay
