About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization operating in Brazil. Our client is building credit products that serve over 1 million customers, using real-time financial signals and Open Finance data to expand access to working capital. They offer salary advance, FGTS, and consignado products that put money in people's hands when traditional lending falls short.

We're seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Kotlin) to join their Brazilian engineering team. This is a remote role based in Brazil, with twice-yearly team gatherings in Campinas and global company offsites.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale backend systems supporting salary advance, FGTS, and consignado lending products with focus on reliability and correctness
• Develop and refine APIs that power instant in-app lending experiences with transaction-level precision
• Work on integrations for payroll-linked and FGTS lending systems where uptime is critical
• Collaborate directly with product, credit, compliance, and analytics teams—your technical perspective will shape product decisions
• Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and team standards around quality, security, and operational excellence
• Mentor junior engineers and elevate team performance through knowledge sharing

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of backend engineering experience with demonstrated ownership of meaningful systems (if you're close and the rest fits, please apply)
• Strong experience with Kotlin and/or Java
• Solid working knowledge of AWS, PostgreSQL, and ECS
• Experience building consumer-facing systems at real transaction volumes
• Fluent Portuguese and advanced English (C1)—written and spoken collaboration happens in English with international team members
• Comfortable using AI-powered development tools (Claude or similar) as a productivity lever
• Fintech, lending, payments, or regulated environment experience is a strong plus

Compensation and Benefits

This is a CLT employment position with full benefits including health insurance, VR/VA meal allowances, and home office stipend. Our client offers competitive compensation and equity. The role is remote-first with a distributed team across multiple countries and time zones. The company gathers twice annually for paid global offsites at locations worth traveling to.
