Senior Backend Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential visual technology client in their search for a Senior Backend Engineer to join their growing team in Paris. This is a hybrid role where you'll take full ownership of pricing systems that serve millions of users across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own the complete delivery and architecture of pricing systems used across iOS, Android, Web, and API products
• Design, build, and monitor features end-to-end, from architecture through release performance tracking
• Optimize existing endpoints to reduce latency and support continued scaling for millions of users
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers and frontend engineers to deliver seamless user experiences
• Iterate rapidly based on user feedback and product usage metrics, with multiple backend deployments per week
• Design endpoints in partnership with frontend teams, including Open API specifications and developer documentation
• Manage database schema design, query optimization, and migrations with minimal downtime at scale

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of backend development experience with Django and Django Rest Framework
• Proven experience working with relational databases at scale, particularly PostgreSQL or MySQL databases larger than 100 GB
• Hands-on experience scaling SaaS and subscription management systems (Stripe, RevenueCat, or similar)
• Strong track record of optimizing Django queries and running database migrations at scale
• Experience designing APIs in collaboration with frontend engineers, including documentation
• Pragmatic approach that prioritizes iteration speed and leverages existing frameworks over custom solutions
• Strong sense of ownership with comfort making both product and technical decisions independently
• Fluent English communication skills
