Full Stack Engineer, Data Orchestration

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential open-source orchestration platform provider seeking a Full Stack Engineer to build features that data teams rely on daily. You will own end-to-end development across the entire technology stack, from backend APIs and orchestration engine components to the front-end interface where workflows are designed, executed, and monitored.

Your work will include:

• Building full-stack features from the Java/Micronaut backend (REST APIs, orchestration logic, plugin architecture) through to the Vue 3 + TypeScript frontend, including comprehensive testing and documentation
• Developing data-aware orchestration capabilities including asset management, lineage tracking, freshness monitoring, and data quality integration
• Creating and enhancing plugins that integrate with modern data stack tools including transformation frameworks, ELT platforms, and cloud data warehouses
• Improving the daily-use interface including the flow editor (Monaco-based), topology visualizations, dashboards, and execution monitoring views
• Collaborating with product management and engineering peers to scope and ship features within 8-week release cycles
• Conducting pull request reviews, participating in technical discussions on public repositories, and engaging with the open-source community

What We're Looking For

Our client needs someone who has actually built and operated data pipelines, not just integrated with them. You should bring:

• Hands-on data engineering experience – you've personally built or maintained data pipelines using transformation tools, ELT platforms, cloud warehouses, or orchestration systems in production environments
• Strong Java and modern backend framework expertise – the stack uses Micronaut; experience with Spring Boot or Quarkus translates well
• Solid Vue 3 and TypeScript skills – the frontend also uses Pinia, Vite, and Monaco editor. Deep React or similar modern framework experience works if you're ready to master Vue
• SQL and relational database proficiency – PostgreSQL, MySQL, and H2 knowledge required
• Understanding of distributed systems – queues, schedulers, and worker patterns for reliable job processing at scale
• Docker and CI/CD pipeline familiarity
• Excellent written communication – comfortable with public technical discussions in repository contexts
• Full ownership mentality – you iterate based on feedback and drive initiatives without waiting for direction
• Global team collaboration skills – comfortable working across distributed teams and time zones

Bonus qualifications:

• Professional background as a data engineer or analytics engineer beyond incidental pipeline work
• Experience with Kafka or Elasticsearch
• Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Active open-source contributions
• B2B software or open-source company experience
