Sales Director Public Sector (d/w/m)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Sales Director to lead their public sector business unit in Berlin. In this role, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership to the team responsible for government and public administration sales.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing the public sector sales team, setting objectives aligned with segment strategy and driving the scaling of the SaaS portfolio
• Partnering with senior sales leadership to refine the go-to-market strategy for this segment, with accountability for revenue, growth, and market positioning
• Advising your team through complex procurement processes and negotiations, accompanying key opportunities from initial contact through contract closure
• Supporting partner management with resellers, distributors, system integrators, and maintaining relationships at executive decision-making levels
• Collaborating with delivery teams to ensure smooth implementation and sustained customer satisfaction
• Working with product management and marketing to develop positioning and market entry strategies for the public sector
• Delivering forecasts, market analyses, and strategic insights to inform business development in this vertical

What We're Looking For

• Minimum five years of experience in business development, sales, or key account management with team leadership responsibility, ideally within SaaS or technology environments
• Proven experience selling to public sector clients, with deep understanding of public procurement processes, regulatory frameworks, and decision-making structures within government agencies
• Track record building and leading sales teams, with strong people development skills and the ability to mobilize teams around shared goals
• Deep understanding of SaaS business models, cloud technologies, and digital transformation processes, plus experience with agile methodologies and modern collaboration models
• Degree in business, STEM fields, or equivalent qualification
• German and English fluency at C1 level or higher
