Maintenance Lead

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential defense technology client in Sydney who needs an experienced Maintenance Lead to oversee operations for advanced maritime autonomous systems. In this role, you will:

• Recruit and manage a team of skilled technicians and tradespeople to maintain autonomous underwater vehicles
• Establish forward operating facilities and infrastructure for test and maintenance activities
• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans and schedules
• Guide the development of maintenance documentation, including manuals, standard practices and parts catalogues in a technical environment
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality control procedures
• Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities
• Collaborate with fleet engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and maintainability
• Analyze maintenance data and key metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement
• Develop and manage maintenance budgets, including forecasting and cost control
• Coordinate with supply chain management to ensure availability of spare parts and materials
• Liaise with maritime customers, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders as required
• Provide stakeholder input into root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions
• Work closely with product lifecycle maintenance functions to optimize total lifecycle cost

What We're Looking For

• Suitable trade or engineering qualification
• 7-10+ years of experience in maintenance management within a high-tech industry
• Proven experience in influencing and engaging customers
• Proven experience in developing and implementing maintenance strategies and facilities
• Experience with condition-based maintenance and predictive maintenance technologies
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to obtain and maintain NV2 Security Clearance
