About This Position

Broadway Ventures is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Claims Processor I to support the World Trade Center Health Program. This temporary role runs through November with potential for follow-on work. You will process complex medical claims for professional and facility services, applying analytical skills and insurance knowledge to ensure accurate adjudication in accordance with program policies. Working remotely on a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time, you'll maintain strict adherence to HIPAA confidentiality standards while managing high claim volumes with exceptional accuracy.

Your Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and process complex medical claims, ensuring compliance with program policies and procedures
• Adjudicate claims by applying program guidelines and critical thinking to navigate intricate scenarios
• Meet established timelines for claims processing while maintaining quality and regulatory standards
• Identify processing barriers and resolve issues through effective problem-solving strategies
• Collaborate with internal departments to address claim discrepancies and implement solutions
• Maintain comprehensive, accurate records of processed, denied, and flagged claims requiring further investigation
• Analyze and report trends in claim issues to management for continuous improvement
• Participate in audits and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to internal and external regulations
• Train and mentor new claims processors as needed

Who We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum five years of professional medical claims processing experience with complex and facility claims; billing experience does not count toward this requirement
• Proficiency with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
• Solid understanding of medical terminology, healthcare services, and insurance procedures; workers' compensation experience is a plus
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in high-volume environments
• Ability to interpret and apply insurance policies and government regulations effectively
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within team settings
• Experience with claim denials, appeals processes, and resolution strategies
• Proven ability to manage high claim volumes efficiently
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and customer-focused mindset
• Flexibility to adapt to evolving program requirements and client needs
