About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential food manufacturing organization seeking a Reliability Engineer for their Derby facility. This hands-on role focuses on maintaining, repairing, and improving automated and non-automated systems to ensure maximum equipment uptime and reliability. You'll work a rotating shift pattern (days and nights, 0600-1800 and 1800-0600) supporting both preventive and reactive maintenance tasks across automation systems, conveyance, and facilities equipment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair systems to maintain high equipment availability through hands-on engagement
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on automation, robotics, and control panels
- Diagnose issues in out-of-service equipment and escalate complex problems appropriately
- Document all maintenance work in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and ticketing systems
- Collaborate with contractors to ensure project completion meets specifications
- Participate in cross-functional engineering projects and ad hoc tasks
- Engage in predictive maintenance activities to support operational uptime requirements
- Provide training and mentorship to Junior Engineers on reliability practices
- Support food safety, health, and safety compliance standards
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) initiatives for continuous improvement
What We're Looking For
- Degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field (advantageous)
- Skilled in material handling, flow and capacity visualization, and monitoring
- Proficient in PLC-controlled automation and diagnosing issues in continuous production environments
- Extensive experience with PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs, including programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Advanced understanding of PLCs and automated processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for technical automation challenges
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with ability to prioritize tasks and manage timelines
- Independent right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)
