Registered Nurse (RN) / Ortho Neuro

Join St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, Fairfield County as a Registered Nurse specializing in Orthopaedic and Neurology care. This full-time evening shift position (3pm–11:30pm, four days weekly) offers nurses the opportunity to deliver specialized patient care in a community health system committed to clinical excellence and nurse well-being.

About the Role

As an RN in our Orthopaedic/Neurology unit, you'll provide direct, evidence-based nursing care to patients recovering from orthopedic surgery, spinal procedures, and neurological conditions. You'll work during critical evening hours when patient monitoring and post-operative assessment are essential, collaborating with surgeons, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Assess and monitor orthopedic and neurological patients, identifying changes in condition and responding promptly
• Manage post-operative care, wound monitoring, pain management, and mobility protocols
• Administer medications, perform nursing procedures, and document patient progress according to standards of care
• Educate patients and families about recovery, rehabilitation, and discharge planning
• Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive care
• Maintain a safe, clean patient environment and uphold infection control practices

What We're Looking For

• Current RN licensure in Connecticut or ability to obtain licensure
• Strong clinical knowledge of orthopedic and neurological nursing care
• Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently during evening shifts and manage multiple patients safely
• Commitment to patient-centered care and professional development
• Experience in acute care nursing preferred; orthopedic or neuro specialty experience a plus
