St. Vincent's Medical Center in Huntington, Connecticut is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized post-operative care in our Operating Room and Ambulatory Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Join Connecticut's most comprehensive healthcare network and deliver critical nursing care during patients' most vulnerable recovery moments.

About the Role

You'll work on a 40-day equivalent rotation with weekend and holiday call requirements, delivering expert nursing care to patients during their critical post-operative recovery. This is perioperative nursing at its most essential—where skilled assessment, quick thinking, and compassionate care directly determine patient outcomes and safety. You'll be part of a collaborative surgical team in a high-volume ambulatory setting.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor post-operative vital signs, oxygen saturation, level of consciousness, and overall patient stability throughout recovery
  • Manage post-operative pain, nausea, and discomfort through nursing interventions and medication administration
  • Assess patient readiness for discharge and provide comprehensive post-operative instructions to patients and families
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and OR staff to ensure seamless continuity of care
  • Maintain meticulous medical records documenting patient assessment, interventions, and progress
  • Uphold strict infection control and patient safety standards in the OR and PACU environment
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery center setting without compromising care quality

What We're Looking For

  • Current Connecticut RN license
  • Valid BLS/CPR certification
  • Clinical nursing experience, preferably in perioperative, OR, or post-operative care settings
  • Strong critical thinking and assessment skills for dynamic, time-sensitive situations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and clinical teams
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-volume environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and professional standards
