MidState Medical Center in Branford, New Haven County, is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Telemetry and Stroke Unit on our night shift team. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced acute inpatient environment where your nursing expertise makes a meaningful difference in patient recovery and outcomes.
About the Role
You'll deliver skilled bedside nursing care to patients admitted to our Medical Telemetry and Stroke Unit at 435 Lewis Avenue. Working the night shift from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., you'll contribute to a team dedicated to continuous cardiac monitoring and stroke care. This 36-hour weekly position includes every-third-weekend rotation and rotating holiday assignments.
What You'll Do
- Monitor telemetry readings and vital signs with close clinical attention to detect rhythm changes and patient deterioration
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans for medical and acute stroke patients
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per physician orders with accuracy and documentation
- Communicate patient status updates to physicians and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
- Educate patients and families about their conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate, timely medical records that support quality care and regulatory compliance
What We're Looking For
- Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Experience in acute care, telemetry nursing, or stroke unit settings (preferred)
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to recognize patient changes quickly
- Proficiency working night shift in a dynamic hospital environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
