Project Engineer IV – Water/Wastewater

Trilongroup is hiring a Project Engineer IV - Water/Wastewater in Gainesville, FL. This full-time role is for a Florida-licensed engineer to lead water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects from design through construction operations.

About This Position

In this senior engineering role, you will direct infrastructure projects across their full lifecycle—from initial design and regulatory approval through construction oversight. You'll manage both technical and administrative dimensions of complex water, wastewater, stormwater, and utility projects, ensuring they meet client specifications and internal quality benchmarks. This position may include overseeing a satellite office that serves the Gainesville market and contributes to broader organizational growth.

Responsibilities

• Direct engineering design and technical development for water, wastewater, stormwater, and public utility infrastructure
• Manage permitting processes and regulatory compliance documentation with municipalities and environmental agencies
• Oversee construction operations, quality assurance, and field coordination
• Coordinate across engineering disciplines and with external stakeholders to solve technical challenges
• Lead and mentor junior engineers and project team members
• Maintain alignment between project delivery and client-defined quality standards
• Develop and execute strategies to minimize project risk and maximize client outcomes

What We're Looking For

• Professional Engineer license in Florida (required)
• Extensive technical background in water resources, wastewater treatment, stormwater systems, or environmental engineering
• Hands-on project delivery experience with deep technical proficiency
• Thorough understanding of permitting frameworks and regulatory compliance
• Strong communication skills, with ability to present technical solutions clearly to clients and teams
• Demonstrated track record in quality control and risk mitigation
• Leadership experience and collaborative approach across multiple disciplines
