Senior Lighting Engineer – Traffic

Trilongroup is seeking a talented Senior Lighting Engineer – Traffic to drive innovation in roadway infrastructure lighting design in Orlando, FL. As a full-time member of our Transportation Engineering team, you will blend technical expertise with creative problem-solving to enhance traffic safety and visibility through intelligent lighting solutions.

About the Role

This is a hands-on engineering position focused on designing, analyzing, and optimizing lighting systems for traffic and roadway applications. You'll take ownership of lighting performance across complex transportation projects, from initial concept through implementation. Your work directly impacts public safety by ensuring roadways are properly illuminated while maintaining energy efficiency and regulatory compliance. You'll work on meaningful infrastructure projects that serve communities across the region.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and develop lighting solutions tailored to traffic corridors, intersections, and highway applications
• Conduct detailed lighting analysis and photometric calculations to meet design standards and safety requirements
• Evaluate existing roadway lighting infrastructure and recommend improvements for safety and efficiency
• Collaborate with transportation planners, architects, and project teams to integrate lighting into broader infrastructure designs
• Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and reports for project deliverables
• Stay current with lighting standards, codes, and best practices in traffic engineering
• Support project budgeting, scheduling, and quality assurance throughout the design and construction phases

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Lighting Design, Civil Engineering, or related field
• Proven expertise in roadway and traffic lighting design and analysis
• Strong technical knowledge of photometric principles and lighting calculations
• Experience with lighting design software and CAD tools
• Familiarity with traffic engineering standards and specifications (AASHTO, IES guidelines)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for Florida PE certification preferred
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
