We are representing a leading GIS technology organization seeking a Product Engineer II to join their team in Cardiff, UK. This role focuses on advancing a powerful scripting language used globally by organizations to customize workflows, validate data input, and create sophisticated visualizations within geographic information systems.

Responsibilities
- Apply independent thought and attention to detail to explore user challenges and provide actionable feedback on user experience
- Build diverse GIS datasets, maps, sample applications, and documentation that highlight product capabilities and guide scripting best practices
- Collaborate with development teams to design, create, and validate datasets and workflows supporting visualization, labeling, pop-ups, and attribute rules
- Document GIS best practices and demonstrate workflows in team meetings, forums, customer interactions, and publications
- Explore AI code generation experiences to investigate problems and prototype enhancements
- Develop focused test code representing complex scenarios for investigation and regression testing
- Administer and automate online and database GIS systems supporting product development and releases
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 2+ years of GIS experience in modeling, analyzing, or presenting geospatial data within scientific, engineering, governmental, or academic environments
- Proficiency with mapping and spatial data platforms
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Demonstrated initiative and creativity in exploring, investigating, and validating software behavior
- Experience with scripting or coding to understand end-user challenges
- Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering, or related field
- Existing work authorization for the United Kingdom
Preferred:
- Passion for cartography, mapping, or geospatial data
- Interest in AI code generation and development tools
- Experience with user communication and education (documentation, blogs, tutorials, presentations)
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Lua, JavaScript, Perl, or TypeScript
- Master's degree in GIS, computer science, engineering, or related field
