About This Position
Halker Consulting is a comprehensive engineering and project delivery firm serving the energy sector across Oil & Gas, power infrastructure, environmental remediation, and automation solutions. We provide integrated engineering design, procurement, field services, and compliance support to clients throughout North America and internationally. As a Process Engineer, you will be central to our technical delivery, contributing expertise across the full lifecycle of facility design and optimization projects.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop technical documentation including process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, material balances, equipment specifications, and utility calculations for new and existing facilities
- Create and execute process simulation models to evaluate facility performance and design alternatives
- Select, size, and specify equipment such as pressure safety valves and control instrumentation based on process requirements
- Produce engineering deliverables including block flow diagrams, process flow diagrams, and detailed P&ID packages
- Partner with operations and maintenance teams to diagnose and resolve facility performance issues
- Conduct feasibility assessments including design evaluation, cost estimation, and economic viability analysis
- Support Process Safety Management activities, including drawing maintenance and resolution of Hazard and Operability (PHA) findings
- Coordinate with project stakeholders—clients, contractors, project managers, and other engineering disciplines—to ensure design quality and project execution
- Lead design teams and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering efforts on assigned projects
- Apply departmental design standards, relevant engineering codes, and company guidelines consistently across all work
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent internationally recognized engineering qualification
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in oil and gas process engineering design and analysis
- Demonstrated competency with process simulation platforms such as HYSYS, ProMax, VMGSim, or comparable software
- Hands-on experience with pressure safety valve calculations and equipment sizing methodologies
- Fluent English communication skills suitable for professional project environments and client interactions
- Background supporting U.S.-based clients and projects in a remote or distributed capacity
