About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential healthcare organization seeking a Prior Authorization Specialist to join their operations. This remote position offers the opportunity to work with a team dedicated to ensuring patients receive timely access to critical medications and supplies through efficient authorization processes.

This is a full-time role with consistent weekday hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM MST), providing work-life balance while supporting essential healthcare services across the United States.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, process, and oversee clinical review of prior authorization requests for medications and supplies, ensuring compliance with payer requirements and clinical guidelines
• Collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to gather necessary clinical information and documentation to support authorization submissions
• Submit prior authorization requests accurately and timely using electronic platforms and established protocols
• Perform all prior authorization functions with a comprehensive understanding of pharmacy benefits and authorization workflows
• Maintain thorough documentation and follow-up on pending authorizations to ensure timely resolution

What We're Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED required; licensed/registered pharmacy technician credential preferred
• 1+ years of pharmacy experience required
• Healthcare or pharmacy-related knowledge essential
• Strong understanding of pharmacy terminology including sig codes, Roman numerals, and brand/generic medication names
• Basic math and analytical skills
• Intermediate typing and keyboard proficiency
• Excellent communication skills for working with providers, payers, and patients
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
