Principal Scientist III – Synthetic Chemist – FSP

Parexel is recruiting a Principal Scientist III in Synthetic Chemistry (FSP) for a full-time position based onsite in Rahway, New Jersey. In this role, you'll lead synthetic chemistry initiatives within the Process Chemistry team of a major pharmaceutical manufacturing client, optimizing synthesis routes and driving innovation in chemical scale-up.

About the Role

This full-time, onsite position places you at the forefront of process chemistry at our client's Rahway facility. You'll serve as a senior scientist in the Process Chemistry department, directing synthetic methodology development, managing complex chemistry problems, and ensuring the successful translation of laboratory synthesis to commercial-scale production.

What You'll Do

• Develop and optimize synthetic routes for active pharmaceutical ingredients, evaluating reactions and conditions to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness
• Lead chemistry teams and mentor junior scientists on problem-solving and best practices
• Collaborate with process engineering and manufacturing to scale synthesis from laboratory to pilot and production scale
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and drive process improvements
• Generate comprehensive experimental documentation with full attention to regulatory compliance and data integrity
• Participate in cross-functional initiatives to advance pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities

What We're Looking For

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Chemistry, or a closely related field
• 8+ years of professional experience in synthetic chemistry, process development, or pharmaceutical chemistry
• Deep expertise in organic synthesis, reaction design, and scale-up chemistry
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with engineering and operations teams
• Excellent documentation, communication, and technical writing skills
• Strong commitment to regulatory compliance and scientific integrity
