Principal Member of Technical Staff

Oracle is seeking a Principal Member of Technical Staff to join our Boise, Ada County engineering team. As a hands-on technical leader, you'll architect and implement mission-critical systems that power enterprise infrastructure at scale, tackling complex challenges in distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure, and highly available services.

What You'll Do

• Design and build distributed systems that handle mission-critical workloads and achieve high availability across global deployments
• Make architectural decisions for virtualized infrastructure components, balancing performance, scalability, and reliability
• Write production-quality code and establish engineering patterns that other teams adopt across the organization
• Mentor and guide engineers while remaining hands-on with implementation and code reviews
• Identify and solve difficult technical problems in areas like consensus protocols, data replication, resource orchestration, and fault tolerance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions

What We're Looking For

• Deep expertise in distributed systems design and implementation, with proven ability to navigate complexity and tradeoffs
• Strong background in virtualized infrastructure, containerization, or cloud computing platforms
• Demonstrated experience building and operating highly available services at scale
• Mastery of systems programming languages (C, C++, Go, Java, or equivalent)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and passion for solving hard technical challenges
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly with both engineers and stakeholders
• Strong track record of shipping production systems and improving engineering practices
