About This Position
As Principal Mechanical Engineer - Product Development at Formfactor in Boulder, CO, you'll lead the mechanical design and development of complex products from concept to commercialization. Your Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design and engineering of product platforms from concept through production
- Define and execute technical strategy for product development initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, manufacturing, and product management
- Conduct advanced design analysis, optimization, and validation using industry-standard CAD and simulation tools
- Develop technical specifications, engineering documentation, and detailed design drawings
- Mentor and develop mechanical engineering team members on design best practices
- Evaluate new materials, manufacturing technologies, and processes for product applications
- Navigate design trade-offs to deliver products meeting performance, cost, and timeline objectives
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline; advanced degree preferred
- Significant professional experience leading product development programs through commercialization
- Deep expertise in mechanical design, CAD/FEA software, and advanced simulation methods
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, design for manufacturability, and supply chain management
- Demonstrated track record mentoring and developing engineering team members
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for complex technical challenges
- Strong communication abilities for presenting technical information to diverse stakeholders
