Pediatric Registered Nurse 2 OR – Murfreesboro

Position Summary

Vumc is seeking a skilled and compassionate Pediatric Registered Nurse 2 (OR) for our Murfreesboro facility. In this role, you'll deliver specialized nursing care in the operating room, working as a circulating or scrub nurse to ensure optimal patient safety, comfort, and surgical success for pediatric patients. You'll collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to provide evidence-based care tailored to the unique developmental and clinical needs of children undergoing surgical procedures.

Your Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile surgical environments and equipment for pediatric OR cases
• Assist surgical teams as circulating or scrub nurse, depending on assignment and expertise
• Monitor pediatric patients throughout the perioperative period, including anesthesia induction, surgery, and recovery
• Implement infection control and safety protocols specific to pediatric surgical patients
• Communicate clearly with the surgical team and respond promptly to patient needs and changing conditions
• Document care accurately and maintain detailed surgical records
• Provide compassionate support to families and prepare children for their surgical experience when appropriate
• Maintain current knowledge of pediatric surgical procedures, equipment, and best practices

What You Bring

• Current RN licensure in Tennessee
• Minimum two years of nursing experience in a pediatric or operating room setting
• Strong clinical knowledge of pediatric anatomy, physiology, and developmental stages
• Proficiency with OR equipment, technology, and sterile technique
• Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Commitment to quality, safety, and evidence-based pediatric nursing practice
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic surgical setting
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, or willingness to obtain
