School Library Assistant

Role Overview

The School Library Assistant plays a vital role in maintaining an organized, welcoming library space where students and staff can access the resources they need. You'll work alongside our librarians to deliver excellent service, manage library materials, and help foster a love of learning across our school community.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Assist with circulation services, including checking materials in and out and processing returns
• Shelve, organize, and maintain library materials in designated areas
• Help students and staff locate books, databases, and other resources
• Support the librarian with cataloging, labeling, and processing new acquisitions
• Maintain accurate library records and update systems as needed
• Assist in preparing displays and materials for library programs and events
• Keep the library environment clean, orderly, and welcoming for all users

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities
• Comfort working with diverse students and staff members
• Basic computer skills and experience with library systems preferred
• Ability to lift and carry library materials regularly
