AVP, Application Development – USAA Investment Services Company (ISCO)

Join USAA as an Assistant Vice President (AVP), Application Development with our Investment Services Company (ISCO) division. About the Role

As AVP, Application Development at USAA Investment Services Company, you'll provide technical leadership and strategic direction for application development initiatives. This role blends hands-on architecture expertise with team oversight, ensuring applications meet the highest standards of performance, security, and member experience. You'll work at the intersection of business strategy and technology execution, partnering across the organization to deliver solutions that power our investment and financial services platforms.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of application developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical applications supporting our investment services platform
• Define technical architecture standards and best practices for application development across ISCO
• Collaborate with product, operations, and business partners to translate requirements into scalable, secure applications
• Drive code quality, testing rigor, and operational reliability across development initiatives
• Evaluate emerging technologies and frameworks to keep USAA's development practices modern and competitive
• Manage project priorities, timelines, and resource allocation to meet business objectives

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior technical role
• Strong foundation in full-stack application development or platform engineering
• Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing engineering teams
• Experience designing and maintaining scalable, resilient applications in production environments
• Solid understanding of cloud technologies, microservices architecture, and modern development practices
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Experience in financial services or regulated industries preferred
