About This Position

As a Diesel Mechanic at UR in South Hill, you'll work on a variety of diesel-powered equipment and vehicles, performing both routine maintenance and complex diagnostics to keep operations running smoothly. You'll use your technical knowledge to identify problems, execute repairs, and ensure all systems meet safety and performance standards. Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines and related mechanical systems
• Perform preventive maintenance on diesel-powered equipment and vehicles
• Test engine and vehicle systems to identify faults, wear, and performance issues
• Replace worn, damaged, or faulty components with new or rebuilt parts
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all service and repair work
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical problems and implement effective solutions

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proven experience working with diesel engines and mechanical systems
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities
• Competency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
• Physical capability to lift heavy parts and work in various positions
• Valid driver's license
• ASE certification or equivalent qualifications preferred
