Registered Nurse, Internal Medicine

About This Position

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse for our Internal Medicine department at Vumc in Nashville. Internal Medicine nursing demands strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering patient-centered care. You will work alongside experienced physicians and clinical teams to support patients during their medical treatment and recovery.

Core Duties

• Assess patient health status, medical histories, and current conditions upon admission and throughout hospital stays
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and established clinical protocols
• Monitor vital signs and patient responses to treatment, reporting changes to the medical team
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in electronic medical records
• Educate patients and families about their medical conditions, medications, and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care
• Perform wound care, catheter management, and other clinical procedures as needed
• Respond to patient requests and concerns with professionalism and empathy

Who We're Looking For

• Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and clinical nursing practices
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
• Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and professional standards
• Prior experience in Internal Medicine or acute care nursing is preferred
