Operations Manager – Last Mile

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential logistics organization seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee last-mile delivery operations. Our talent team is conducting a search for a professional who can manage daily operations, mentor staff, and optimize routing efficiency across a network of contract carriers.

This role reports to senior operations leadership and is responsible for supervising teams, ensuring compliance with operational policies, and driving continuous improvement in delivery performance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of contract carriers, including maintaining schedules, monitoring routes and reports, and fostering positive working relationships with carriers and helpers
• Develop and mentor staff to reach performance goals; train team members on policies and procedures
• Carry out managerial responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, performance management, and resolving employee issues
• Use route planning software to build efficient delivery routes and manage dispatch operations
• Identify operational inefficiencies and restructure routes to improve performance
• Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately within established timeframes and that proper documentation is maintained
• Allocate and request additional resources as needed to meet service commitments
• Ensure compliance with warehouse policies, procedures, and safety programs

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of logistics and supervisory experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
• Demonstrated ability to manage operations teams and drive accountability
• Strong problem-solving skills and operational mindset

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or related field
• Availability to work a variety of shifts including holidays, evenings, nights, and weekends; occasional travel between locations
• Experience mentoring and developing less-experienced team members
• Bilingual English/Spanish (read, write, and speak both languages)
• Strong business acumen with ability to partner effectively with management teams
