Open Source Contributor (GitHub)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential AI organization seeking experienced Open Source Contributors for a remote contract engagement focused on software engineering tasks that support AI training initiatives. This is a flexible, output-based role requiring approximately 15 hours per week.

Your work will include:

• Exploring and understanding unfamiliar software repositories across various technology stacks
• Implementing, modifying, and debugging front-end and back-end components in diverse codebases
• Tracing data flow and execution patterns across interfaces, services, libraries, APIs, databases, and external dependencies
• Reproducing software issues and identifying root causes through systematic investigation
• Implementing solutions that align with existing project architecture and contribution standards
• Writing comprehensive tests including unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end coverage
• Reviewing AI-generated code patches for correctness, completeness, security, and maintainability
• Translating complete coding implementations between programming languages

What We're Looking For

Our client requires engineers with demonstrable open-source experience and strong software engineering fundamentals:

• A public or verifiable GitHub profile showcasing your contributions
• Meaningful ownership of or substantive contributions to one or more open-source repositories—contributions should demonstrate real engineering ability beyond documentation updates, dependency bumps, or formatting changes
• Strong software engineering experience in front-end, back-end, full-stack, systems programming, developer tooling, or infrastructure
• Proficiency with multiple programming languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Java, Go, Rust, C++, C#, Ruby, or PHP
• Proven ability to understand and modify unfamiliar codebases quickly and effectively
• Readiness to discuss specific repositories, pull requests, issues, and code you personally authored
• Availability to start within 24–48 hours of completing onboarding

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $100–$150 per hour (USD), based on output and task completion. Compensation varies depending on task complexity and your workflow efficiency.
