Role Overview
As a Mental Health Specialist II in our Acute Behavioral Services program, you'll provide evidence-based, compassionate care to individuals experiencing mental health crises and acute behavioral challenges. Working within a multidisciplinary treatment team, you'll combine clinical observation with direct support to help clients move through crisis toward recovery. Your Responsibilities
- Monitor and document client behavior, mental status, and clinical changes in acute behavioral settings
- Support crisis intervention and de-escalation, using evidence-based techniques to ensure safety
- Assist psychiatrists and clinical counselors with assessments and treatment planning
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences
- Provide client and family education on mental health conditions, treatment, and coping strategies
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation meeting regulatory standards
- Support medication management and client education related to psychiatric medications
- Collaborate with care coordination to facilitate safe transitions and community connections
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or higher educational credential
- 1 to 3 years of experience in mental health, behavioral health, or human services
- Current CPR/BLS certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Successful background check and criminal record clearance
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to remain composed and professional in high-stress situations
- Commitment to trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care
- Valid driver's license preferred
