About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential technology client launching an innovative social-predictions platform currently in beta. As their Market Curation Editor focused on Culture, you'll serve as the critical human judgment layer in their content operations—reviewing system-generated prediction markets, making real-time relevance calls, and ensuring every published market is factually sound, clearly written, and culturally live.
This role requires someone deeply embedded in U.S. entertainment culture right now: you follow the shows, the stars, the fandoms, and the conversations happening this week. You'll decide what goes live, sharpen what's nearly right, and catch the culturally significant moments the automated pipeline missed entirely.
Responsibilities
- Review daily queues of system-generated culture markets against fixed completion deadlines
- Assess each candidate for factual accuracy, clarity, and whether resolution criteria can actually be adjudicated—particularly challenging in culture where release dates shift, awards categories change, and chart methodologies evolve
- Verify timing accuracy: confirm open and close windows match real events including announcements, broadcasts, releases, and ceremonies
- Make the core relevance judgment: determine whether a market is genuinely live right now or technically correct but culturally irrelevant
- Confirm policy compliance against community standards and content guidelines, escalating sensitive markets about real people (private life, health, minors, grief, unverified allegations)
- Approve, edit, or reject each candidate with structured reasoning—this record is a product deliverable
- Rewrite questions and resolution language for precision using authentic fandom vocabulary
- Author timestamped clarifications when ambiguity emerges in live markets and handle settlement for markets without authoritative data feeds
- Conduct proactive gap scans across social platforms, fan communities, and entertainment press for culturally significant moments the pipeline missed
- Participate in weekly calibration reviews to maintain consistency with published guidelines and fellow curators
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 3+ years in entertainment journalism, editorial, social or community management, or comparable roles requiring current subject-matter expertise
- Demonstrable current fluency in U.S. entertainment culture—television, film, music, celebrity, and fandom landscape—following it now, not historically
- Working knowledge of the U.S. media landscape: which outlets break news, which sources are reliable, and distinguishing real announcements from speculation
- Sound judgment on ambiguity: rumor versus confirmation, shifting release dates, contested awards outcomes, revised chart methodology
- Ability to interpret sources quickly and reach defensible determinations
- Exceptional written precision under deadline—capable of writing unambiguous rules that hold up after outcomes are known
- Strong instinct for where markets about real people cross from public interest into private life, with discipline to escalate rather than guess
- Availability for evening, overnight, and weekend work around live events
Preferred:
- Current or former entertainment journalist with outlets in entertainment news, celebrity coverage, or digital entertainment media
- Experience with or familiarity with prediction markets mechanics
- Prior newsroom experience or managing large social platforms for news or entertainment brands with hard daily deadlines
- Familiarity with content policy, moderation frameworks, or editorial standards—especially around coverage of private individuals
- Track record of spotting trends and significant moments forming in real time
- Experience contributing to guidelines, style guides, or annotation standards
- Genuine, active standing in high-velocity digital communities or fandoms (reality TV, gaming, streaming, pop culture) demonstrating real-time fluency
