Maritime Litigation Attorney

Southern Attorney Search & Staffing is seeking a maritime litigation attorney to join a prominent New Orleans law firm focused on offshore energy and marine disputes. This is a full-time position based in Lafayette Square, Orleans Parish, Louisiana, for an experienced litigator ready to handle complex maritime matters from start to finish.

About the Role

You'll work as part of a dedicated litigation team handling cases across maritime law, admiralty, and offshore energy disputes. This position offers the opportunity to develop deep expertise in a specialized practice while taking on meaningful client responsibilities from initial pleadings through trial.

What You'll Do

• Draft and file pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents in state and federal courts
• Manage discovery processes, including responding to interrogatories, document requests, and depositions
• Research complex legal issues related to maritime commerce, vessel operations, and offshore energy regulations
• Prepare cases for settlement negotiation, mediation, and trial
• Work collaboratively with senior attorneys and support litigation strategy on behalf of clients
• Handle client communication and case development throughout the litigation lifecycle

What We're Looking For

• 2–5 years of professional experience in maritime law, admiralty, or offshore energy litigation
• Strong legal writing and analytical skills, with attention to detail in drafting and document review
• Knowledge of federal and state maritime statutes, admiralty principles, and energy law
• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment
• Professional judgment and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, judges, and opposing counsel
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and Louisiana bar admission (or eligibility)
