Manufacturing Engineer III

What This Role Involves

As a Manufacturing Engineer III at Wabtec, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes that support our commitment to quality and operational efficiency. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve technical problems, reduce production costs, and enhance product reliability. This role requires both hands-on technical expertise and the ability to mentor junior engineers while managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Core Duties

• Develop and refine manufacturing processes to improve yield, quality, and throughput
• Conduct root cause analysis on production issues and implement corrective actions
• Design fixtures, tooling, and equipment modifications to enhance manufacturing capability
• Collaborate with design and quality teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance
• Lead process validation studies and document standard operating procedures
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities
• Support capital equipment selection, installation, and troubleshooting
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to manufacturing technicians and junior engineers

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of hands-on manufacturing or process engineering experience
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment
• Proficiency with manufacturing software, CAD, and data analysis tools
• Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities
• Ability to work effectively across teams and communicate technical concepts clearly
• Demonstrated leadership and commitment to continuous improvement
