About the Role
As Maintenance Specialist for this residential facility in Los Angeles County, you'll be the hands-on expert responsible for keeping our properties functional, safe, and habitable. You'll manage a variety of skilled maintenance tasks, from routine repairs and preventative maintenance to specialized work in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, carpentry, and painting. This role is essential to PATH's ability to provide dignified housing to people we serve.
What You'll Do
- Execute semi-skilled and skilled building maintenance tasks, including repairs to plumbing fixtures, electrical systems (120V work), HVAC equipment, carpentry, and painting
- Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems—sinks, toilets, water heaters, drains, grease traps, and related fixtures
- Operate hand and power tools; read and interpret blueprints and maintenance specifications
- Manage the preventative maintenance schedule systematically, ensuring all planned work is completed on time
- Respond immediately to safety-related maintenance requests through our ticketing system and ensure compliance with all safety standards
- Inspect facilities for code compliance and perform necessary repairs to maintain habitability standards
- Coordinate emergency response when needed—fires, earthquakes, utility shutoffs—keeping residents, staff, and visitors safe
- Procure maintenance supplies efficiently, track orders and returns, and maintain accurate documentation of all work performed
What We're Looking For
- Minimum five years of hands-on general maintenance experience in building and equipment repair
- Two years of demonstrated experience in plumbing and/or electrical maintenance
- Proficiency with computer systems including maintenance management software (CMMS), Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Teams
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation and proof of insurance (driving is essential to this role)
- Ability to live on-site as required by the position
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety excellence
- Preferred: Spanish language proficiency and active plumbing certification
Requirements
- Current employment authorization to work in the United States
- CPR/First Aid certification (must obtain if not current)
- Successfully pass tuberculosis screening, background check, and drug screening as a condition of employment
