About the Role
Join a growing psychiatric practice that values work-life balance and clinical excellence. You'll work within a predictable Monday through Friday schedule, with all federal holidays paid. This position offers flexibility: commit primarily to outpatient care while having the option to participate in weekend inpatient rounding approximately every six weeks.
What You'll Do
- Provide comprehensive outpatient psychiatric care to 12–15 patients per day
- Lead inpatient rounding when participating (approximately 15 patients per shift), working alongside resident physicians
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, and medication management
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary clinical team to ensure integrated patient care
- Participate in weekend inpatient coverage on a voluntary, rotating basis every six weeks
- Document clinical encounters and maintain comprehensive medical records
What We're Looking For
- Active medical license to practice psychiatry in North Carolina
- Board certification or board-eligible status in psychiatry
- Demonstrated experience in addiction medicine and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment—required
- Prior clinical work within the VA healthcare system—highly preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, diagnostic reasoning, and medication management skills
- Commitment to evidence-based psychiatric practice
- Professional demeanor and ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
