About the Role
As a Linux Engineer Level 3, you will take ownership of complex Linux infrastructure systems that underpin Telefonica Tech's enterprise operations. This is a hands-on technical position combining system administration, infrastructure automation, and technical mentoring. You'll work with mature systems in regulated environments, balancing reliability with continuous improvement and innovation.
Core Duties
- Administer, maintain, and optimise Linux systems across on-premises and cloud environments
- Design and implement infrastructure automation using configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools
- Develop and maintain shell scripts, Python, and other automation to improve operational efficiency
- Respond to infrastructure incidents, diagnose root causes, and implement lasting solutions
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and security; implement preventative measures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on deployment, upgrades, and system changes
- Document systems, runbooks, and procedures; mentor junior team members
- Ensure compliance with security policies and industry standards relevant to enterprise health IT
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience
- Strong proficiency with shell scripting and Python automation
- Demonstrated experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef)
- Solid understanding of networking, storage, and virtualisation technologies
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Knowledge of security hardening, access controls, and compliance in enterprise environments
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and mentor less experienced engineers
