Legal Consultant / Negotiator – UMR (Derivatives)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential financial services organization seeking a Legal Consultant / Negotiator with specialized expertise in UMR (Uncleared Margin Rules) and derivatives documentation. This is a long-term engagement based in Hong Kong, offering the opportunity to work with a globally recognized institution on complex regulatory matters.

Our client operates at the intersection of derivatives trading and regulatory compliance, requiring sophisticated legal professionals who can navigate the technical demands of margin and collateral documentation while ensuring adherence to evolving international requirements.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and review UMR-related trading documents and derivative documentation
• Ensure all agreed terms meet regulatory requirements under Uncleared Margin Rules
• Verify compliance with internal risk and collateral policies
• Properly capture margin, collateral, and segregation terms in documentation
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain documentation standards

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience negotiating derivatives and ISDA documentation
• Direct experience with UMR-related margin and collateral terms
• Strong understanding of OTC derivatives, margin, and collateral concepts
• Comprehensive knowledge of UMR regulation
• Approximately 2 years post-qualification experience or above
• Background as an experienced negotiator from either the financial services sector or a law firm
• Based in or able to work in Hong Kong (APAC region)
