Role Overview
The Leader in Training position is a developmental opportunity within the Green Thumb leadership team at RISE Dispensary in Whitehall, Ohio. As an emerging leader, you'll oversee critical dispensary operations, supervise team members, and create positive customer experiences across all sales channels. This role combines hands-on operational management with professional growth, positioning you for advancement within the organization. You'll rotate through key dispensary functions—operations, customer experience, and people management—building expertise that prepares you for assistant manager responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support management in running daily dispensary operations while ensuring compliance with state and local cannabis regulations, security protocols, and inventory standards.
- Monitor product inventory levels, communicate stock needs with management, and oversee the receipt, verification, and documentation of deliveries and transfers to maintain accurate vault records.
- Lead team members through assigned shifts, promoting in-store, drive-thru, curbside, and delivery operations that exceed customer expectations and maintain consistent service quality.
- Manage point-of-sale transactions, cash handling procedures, and discount applications while coaching team members on payment accuracy and security practices.
- Execute store promotions and regional programs by directing team efforts toward completion and coordinating participation across shifts.
- Engage in "Leader On Duty" rotations, providing active supervision, recognizing employee performance, and redirecting behavior to support a customer-first culture.
- Champion loyalty program enrollment and engagement by modeling participation and motivating team members to drive membership goals.
- Maintain adequate sales floor coverage and product organization during your scheduled shifts, ensuring a welcoming environment for customers.
- Work collaboratively with management to recruit talented team members, lead new-hire onboarding and training, and help navigate state and local badging requirements.
- Coach team members toward performance goals, provide constructive feedback, and partner with management on accountability and development.
- Coordinate shift schedules, meal breaks, and rest periods to balance operational needs with team member well-being.
What You Bring
- At least three years of customer service or retail experience, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
- Knowledge of and passion for the cannabis industry—while prior dispensary experience is not required, you should have a foundational understanding of cannabis laws and regulations and a commitment to expanding your expertise.
- Experience managing inventory systems and processes (preferred).
- Flexibility to work morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts to meet business demands.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with a proactive approach and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to remain composed under pressure, meet deadlines consistently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with point-of-sale systems, word processing, spreadsheet software, database management, and email applications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to resolve conflicts, handle customer and team member concerns, and mediate disputes professionally.
- High level of critical thinking, problem-solving, and sound judgment in complex situations.
- Openness to developmental feedback and commitment to personal and professional growth.
- Operational capacity to move throughout the dispensary, stand for extended periods, communicate clearly, handle inventory up to 30 pounds, and operate specialized equipment during full shifts.
- Minimum age of 21 years; valid driver's license or state ID required.
- Ability to pass comprehensive background checks and comply with all Green Thumb policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated reliability, responsibility, and consistent attendance.
