Lead Functional Consultant – D365 F&O Finance & SCM (f/m/x)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential clean energy organization undergoing a significant ERP transformation. They are building an AI-native enterprise architecture with D365 F&O at its core, organized around end-to-end process domains rather than traditional workstreams. This is a rare opportunity to architect Finance and SCM systems that will support intelligent automation across 30+ legal entities.

As Lead Functional Consultant, you will define the Finance architecture across General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, and Project Accounting. You'll establish design standards that ensure the platform remains deterministic, traceable, and audit-compliant while supporting advanced automation layers. This role requires both deep D365 F&O expertise and the vision to architect systems that support next-generation finance operations.

Responsibilities

• Define and govern the Finance architecture across D365 F&O modules including GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Cash & Bank, Project Accounting, and Cost Accounting
• Design architectural foundations that support automated finance workflows while maintaining full auditability and compliance with IFRS and local GAAP requirements
• Translate complex Finance business requirements into robust D365 F&O designs, prioritizing clean-core approaches with customizations only where legally required or business-critical
• Drive standardization and harmonization across regions and legal entities, ensuring consistent rollout across 30+ entities
• Lead solution governance, blueprinting, and architectural decision-making for the Finance domain
• Provide thought leadership on Microsoft ecosystem capabilities, industry best practices, and emerging technologies
• Guide functional consultants, developers, and integration teams through design, build, testing, cutover, and hypercare phases
• Represent Finance architecture in governance forums, design authority reviews, and executive steering committees up to CFO level
• Ensure all Finance solutions are designed for reliability, robustness, and scalability across global operations

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience in ERP Finance and SCM transformation with significant hands-on D365 F&O Finance experience across multiple modules and global rollouts
• Proven architectural leadership designing end-to-end Finance solutions including integrations, data models, extensions, and ISV evaluations, ideally within high-growth or complex organizations
• Deep functional expertise in core Finance processes: GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Cash & Bank, Project Accounting, and Cost Accounting
• Strong understanding of IFRS and local GAAP requirements
• Strong fluency in D365 F&O architecture, including data entities and integration patterns
• Understanding of or strong interest in intelligent automation in Finance and how platforms must be architected to support it
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders including Finance Directors and CFO with clear communication and decision-making
• Experience leading global implementations across multiple legal entities including fit-gap analysis, blueprinting, solution governance, and change management
• Collaborative leadership mindset that brings cross-functional teams together and drives clarity in complex programs
• Fluency in English; German is a plus
