Lead Forward Deployed Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential insurtech organization that is transforming how specialty insurance markets operate through innovative technology. Our client is seeking a Lead Forward Deployed Engineer to lead a team and deliver tailored technical solutions that bridge engineering, sales, and client success.

This is a hybrid role based in London, requiring 2-3 days per week on-site in the City of London area.

Responsibilities

• Lead the analysis of client business requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions using domain-specific functional programming languages
• Manage and mentor a team of Forward Deployed Engineers, setting clear objectives and providing coaching for professional development
• Own the design, configuration, and delivery of formal specifications for insurance products across multiple lines of business (marine, aviation, political violence, etc.)
• Act as a trusted technical partner to clients, shaping solutions that align with their strategic goals
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and commercial teams to customize platform solutions for client needs
• Build and manage platform integrations, ensuring reliable delivery and ongoing technical support
• Demonstrate product value and technical credibility to senior stakeholders
• Drive proof of value and pilot projects critical to business growth

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Strong foundation in programming with comfort in domain-specific or functional languages
• Proven experience leading and developing teams with a track record of building high-performing cultures
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including client leadership
• Ability to thrive in fast-changing environments and operate with ambiguity and autonomy
• Solutions-driven mindset with focus on continuous improvement
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for tackling complex, real-world problems
• Ability to learn new platforms and domains quickly and apply knowledge effectively

Preferred experience:

• Background in insurtech, insurance, or related industries
• Experience in distributed work environments
• Collaborative approach with emphasis on product quality
