About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Lead AI Engineer to join their team in Bordeaux. This is a strategic role where you will drive the design, development, and adoption of AI systems within a critical business domain. You'll combine deep AI engineering expertise with product and business acumen to identify high-impact opportunities and deliver measurable outcomes.
As the AI technical lead for your domain (such as Sales & Marketing or Finance & Legal), you will be responsible for architecture decisions, engineering excellence, and driving AI adoption across teams and stakeholders. This is a permanent position requiring 4 days on-site per week in Bordeaux.
Responsibilities
Own Technical Strategy for Your Domain
- Identify high-value AI opportunities in collaboration with business leaders
- Define the technical vision and own the AI product roadmap for your domain
Lead AI System Development
- Design and build production-grade AI systems including LLMs, RAG, and AI agents
- Drive architecture decisions for scalability, reliability, and maintainability
- Work with Python, SQL, and modern AI frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex)
Drive Adoption and Business Impact
- Work closely with end users to ensure successful implementation
- Measure adoption rates and business outcomes
- Accelerate AI transformation across your domain
Establish Technical Excellence
- Promote best practices for evaluation, testing, guardrails, and observability
- Review designs and mentor engineers
- Raise the quality bar across AI initiatives
Grow AI Capability
- Mentor AI Engineers and Agent Builders
- Share knowledge and develop reusable components
- Build AI expertise within the organization
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering, ML Engineering, or Applied AI
- Strong hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG systems, AI Agents, and production AI systems
- Proven ability to influence product and business decisions through technical leadership
- Demonstrated leadership on complex cross-functional initiatives
- Proficiency with Python, SQL, and modern AI stack (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Mistral, open-source models)
- Experience with agentic frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, MCP) and vector databases
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP), Docker, and Kubernetes
- Strong communication skills in English and/or French
