(Junior) Data Scientist

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology client in Germany seeking a Junior Data Scientist to join their product development team. This is a hybrid role based in Hamburg or fully remote within Germany. You'll work at the intersection of AI innovation and practical application, building sophisticated systems that make advanced analytics accessible to non-technical users.

Our client is scaling an AI-powered platform, and you'll collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to develop agentic AI assistants, automated analytics tools, and machine learning solutions that deliver production-grade insights.

Responsibilities

• Design and build agentic AI systems using frameworks like Pydantic AI, including tool registries, prompt engineering, grounding strategies, and orchestration of LLM-based workflows
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and integrate AI and Data Science features into the platform
• Automate data analytics and insights visualizations that are interpretable by non-technical users
• Automate advanced analytical methods that are both user-friendly and statistically valid
• Build and deploy machine learning models (supervised, unsupervised, LLM-based) end-to-end from prototyping through production
• Contribute to AI observability and evaluation practices using tools like Langfuse and inspect-ai to monitor and improve AI systems in production
• Stay current with advancements in AI, LLMs, and agentic architectures, and share insights with colleagues

What We're Looking For

Required:

• University degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics or related field
• At least one year of professional experience in Data Science and AI building production-grade products
• Production-level experience building agentic AI systems or LLM-powered applications, including prompt engineering, tool-use patterns, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or similar approaches
• Strong programming skills in Python with proficiency in relevant frameworks and libraries (FastAPI, Pydantic/Pydantic AI, Pytest, Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn)
• Experience with LLM integration (Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar providers)
• Software industry experience delivering high-quality, scalable services via APIs to production
• Ability to write clean, well-tested, maintainable code with familiarity in code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD practices
• Excellent problem-solving skills with comfort in ambiguity and eagerness to learn new technologies
• Fluent English with strong communication skills, including ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure for software deployment (Kubernetes, Helm) and AI observability tooling (Langfuse, LLM tracing)
• Experience in or passion for market research, marketing, or consumer insights
