International Senior Legal Counsel (UK & Germany)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential EdTech organization with operations across the UK and Germany. This is a newly created International Senior Legal Counsel position supporting cross-border legal matters for a high-growth company in the learning technology sector. You'll report directly to the General Counsel and play a key role in establishing in-house legal capabilities across two markets.

This role is ideal for a dual-qualified or internationally experienced legal professional who enjoys working across cultures and wants to contribute to a mission-driven organization scaling its European footprint.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal advisor for German operations, providing guidance on commercial, employment, and corporate matters
• Lead the German commercial contracting lifecycle, including B2B, B2C, and B2G agreements
• Navigate the German regulatory landscape, including vocational training regulations, and provide practical business guidance
• Support post-acquisition integration workstreams, including contract migrations, governance alignment, and compliance harmonization
• Advise on German employment law matters, including works council engagement and equity schemes
• Manage relationships with external German counsel to ensure cost-effective, high-quality support
• Draft and negotiate UK commercial contracts in tech, data, and partnership areas
• Act as a strategic bridge between UK and German business functions

What We're Looking For

Core Requirements:

• Qualified to practice law in Germany
• Strong understanding of the German legal market and experience working within the UK legal environment (in-house, international firm, or UK-based role)
• Fluency in both German and English (written and spoken), with ability to negotiate and draft legal documents in both languages
• Proven experience managing commercial contracts and regulatory matters

Valuable Additional Experience:

• M&A transactions or post-closing integration work
• German employment law expertise (works councils, incentive plans)
• In-house experience, particularly in tech or EdTech sectors
• Familiarity with UK commercial legal frameworks
