About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cloud data platform company in their search for an Infrastructure & Platform Senior Specialist Solutions Engineer based in London. This is a senior-level technical pre-sales role focused on guiding enterprise customers through complex cloud infrastructure, security, and platform administration challenges.

As a trusted technical advisor, you'll work directly with enterprise clients to architect secure, scalable deployments across AWS, Azure, or GCP. You'll combine deep technical expertise with the ability to translate architecture decisions into tangible business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Guide enterprise customers through platform administration, from initial architectural design through production deployment on their chosen cloud provider
• Design secure, scalable enterprise solutions that meet complex requirements around cloud networking (VPCs, private connectivity), identity management (cloud IAM and enterprise identity providers), and security compliance
• Serve as a technical specialist in cloud infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, cloud networking, and identity management
• Support competitive technical engagements by demonstrating platform differentiation through custom solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data architects, field engineers, and partners on complex customer requirements
• Provide structured feedback to influence product direction based on customer needs and market gaps
• Contribute to thought leadership through customer-facing content, workshops, and community engagement

What We're Looking For

Required Experience & Skills:

• 4+ years in solutions architecture, technical pre-sales, or senior hands-on technical roles
• Security & Identity: Deep knowledge of cloud security controls, encryption, compliance frameworks, and identity protocols including cloud-native IAM (AWS IAM, Azure AD/Entra ID, Google Cloud IAM), enterprise identity services, and federation standards (SCIM, OAuth, SAML, OIDC)
• Networking & Deployments: Enterprise cloud networking expertise including VPC/VNet design and peering, dedicated interconnects (Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, Cloud Interconnect), private connectivity (PrivateLink, Private Service Connect), and large-scale deployment management
• Platform Administration: High availability, disaster recovery, cluster orchestration, observability/audit tooling (CloudWatch/CloudTrail, Azure Monitor, Google Cloud Operations Suite), and cloud cost management
• Infrastructure Automation: Hands-on proficiency with IaC tools including Terraform and cloud-native tooling (CloudFormation/CDK, ARM/Bicep, Deployment Manager) to build and scale complex cloud environments
• Strong coding skills in Python and PySpark/Spark with ability to demonstrate live coding, debugging, and solution building
• Solid understanding of distributed data systems architecture including scalable pipelines, streaming architectures, and lakehouse patterns
• Proven ability to whiteboard architectures and conduct design reviews with senior technical stakeholders
• Track record of driving platform adoption and consumption growth
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and executive audiences
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or quantitative discipline (or equivalent experience)
• Willingness to travel up to 30% as needed

Nice to Have:

• Platform certifications in data engineering, ML, or cloud data platforms
• Cloud provider certifications at professional level (AWS Solutions Architect Professional, AWS Data Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect)
• Experience with competitive cloud data platforms and services
• Background in data/AI companies or cloud providers
