Senior Full Stack Engineer — TypeScript / Next.js (100%, m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization operating across the DACH region. Our client is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to own the customer-facing platform for their German market. This is a high-impact role where you will architect and build the digital application journey, customer and dealer portals, and ensure compliance with German regulatory requirements.

You will work in a small, senior engineering team where your architectural decisions directly shape the product. This role requires deep full-stack capability—you will own both the React/Next.js frontend and the use-case and API layers behind it, working to clean architecture standards in a regulated financial services environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the German market implementation: credit and compliance requirements, dealer workflows, localized content, and acceptance criteria
• Design and build complex multi-step application journeys including validation, resumable state, document upload, KYC steps, and error handling
• Build and maintain customer, dealer, and operations portals with production-grade quality
• Develop use-case and API layers following clean architecture principles—this is a true full-stack role with roughly 60/40 frontend-to-backend split
• Own field-level mapping into CRM and process engine systems where accuracy is a compliance requirement
• Author specification-driven change proposals and serve as approver for journey and mapping changes in the German market
• Grow end-to-end test coverage on critical user journeys using Playwright or Cypress
• Collaborate with backend and platform engineering teams across Berlin and Jakarta
• Communicate technical decisions clearly in both German and English with engineering and business stakeholders

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of full-stack TypeScript engineering with recent production experience in React and Next.js App Router (server components, server actions, route handlers)
• Fintech experience is mandatory: production work on a regulated financial product (leasing, lending, banking, payments, insurance) where regulatory oversight applied
• Proven ownership of complex onboarding flows: validation strategy, partial persistence and resumption, conditional branching, document handling
• Real backend capability: use cases, repository patterns, API handlers, PostgreSQL/Prisma queries—not just UI development
• Strong command of state management (Zustand or equivalent), data-fetching patterns (TanStack Query), and form tooling (React Hook Form with Zod) including server-side validation
• Experience with end-to-end testing of stateful, integration-dependent flows
• AI-first engineering mindset: daily use of coding assistants and ability to write specifications precise enough for agent-based implementation
• Working understanding of German regulatory environment for consumer credit or asset finance (BaFin context, AML/KYC obligations, consumer credit disclosure) is a strong plus
• Internationalization experience with multi-locale applications
• Fluent German and English required

Location & Work Arrangement

This role is based in Berlin with a hybrid arrangement: 2-3 days per week in a coworking office (Stresemannstrasse area). The position offers 4 weeks of remote work per year from anywhere in the world.
