About the Role
As an ICW Lead Case Manager II with Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, you'll provide advanced case management in child protective services while ensuring compliance with the Indian Child Welfare Act, tribal law, and federal and state regulations. This is a leadership-track position where your expertise directly shapes how the community supports its most vulnerable families. You'll serve as a resource for team members, manage complex cases, and help establish best practices across the department.
What You'll Do
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of child safety, family dynamics, and community resources
- Develop and implement individualized case plans that prioritize family preservation and cultural connection
- Coordinate services with tribal, state, and federal agencies while maintaining ICWA compliance
- Document case progress, legal proceedings, and outcomes with accuracy and cultural sensitivity
- Engage families, caregivers, and tribal community members in recovery and reunification efforts
- Mentor junior caseworkers and contribute to department procedures and training
- Maintain caseloads within required ratios while meeting all reporting and documentation deadlines
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- 2+ years of casework or child welfare experience, preferably in tribal, Native American, or cultural-centered settings
- Deep understanding of the Indian Child Welfare Act and its application
- Strong assessment, communication, and documentation skills
- Ability to work with trauma-informed, family-centered, and culturally grounded approaches
