Volunteer Assistant Cheerleader Coach High School

Rock Island/Milan School District #41 is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Volunteer Assistant Cheerleader Coach to support the high school cheerleading program at Rock Island High School in Rock Island, Rock Island County. About the Role

Join our cheerleading coaching staff as a Volunteer Assistant Cheerleader Coach and help shape the next generation of student athletes. You'll work collaboratively with the head coach to guide cheerleaders through skill development, competition preparation, and personal growth, while building the teamwork and confidence that makes a successful program.

What You'll Do

• Lead and assist with cheerleading practices, skill drills, and conditioning sessions
• Teach stunts, formations, choreography, and competitive routines alongside the head coaching staff
• Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to individual cheerleaders
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and proper technique in all training activities
• Support cheerleaders at competitions, school events, and community appearances
• Help plan and coordinate seasonal goals, training progressions, and competition strategy
• Foster a positive team culture centered on school spirit, respect, and mutual support
• Maintain coaching standards and assist with equipment and facility management

What We're Looking For

• Genuine enthusiasm for cheerleading and passion for working with high school students
• Background in cheerleading, gymnastics, dance, tumbling, or related athletic experience
• Strong interpersonal and motivational communication skills
• Ability to take direction from and collaborate with head coaches and administrative staff
• Demonstrated commitment to youth safety, well-being, and positive coaching principles
• Flexibility to attend regular practices and competitions throughout the season
• High school diploma or equivalent
