Responsibilities
We are representing a well-funded technology company in the real estate intelligence space, seeking a Head of Engineering to lead and scale their approximately 10-person engineering team in Munich.
In this role, you will drive your team to deliver ambitious results: continuous improvements for existing customers alongside new prototypes and innovations that expand the business model. You'll foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing so that everyone improves daily.
You will serve as a strong sparring partner, thinking in systems. Working alongside the C-level, product and data teams, and customers, you'll advance the product strategy and architect technically sound, smart solutions. The best idea wins, regardless of source—with 40 people, there's simply no room for politics.
On the technical side, you will build architecture that scales with the organization and leaves room for innovation, particularly around integrating AI components and data pipelines. You'll have free rein to experiment, evolve the tech stack, and allocate capacity for technical foundation work and tech debt.
You'll also support sales and customer success teams in winning new clients, building your own user and fan base. Every line of code contributes to improving the CO2 footprint of real estate.
Current tech stack: TypeScript (full stack, React frontend, NestJS backend), Hasura/GraphQL, PostgreSQL RDS, AWS ECS/Elastic Beanstalk, Claude.
What We're Looking For
- At least 5 years of experience in software engineering leadership and architecture, with a proven track record scaling engineering teams while maintaining high shipping velocity—ideally in a non-corporate, fast-paced environment
- Passion for growing teams, supporting their development, and setting ambitious goals
- Deep experience with the mentioned frontend and backend technologies and modern tech stacks—not by coding everything yourself, but by enabling your team
- Systems thinking with a consistent first-principles approach to problem-solving
- Native or C1-level German and fluent English
- Track record developing and shipping agentic features that extend platform capabilities
- Ability to help teams ship faster by providing support, strengthening can-do mentality, and critically questioning what should be built
- Success hiring and retaining great local talent
- Understanding of what drives each person on your team and helping them elevate their performance
