Head Middle School Girls Basketball Coach – Heppner Jr/Sr High School

Morrow County School District seeks a dedicated Head Middle School Girls Basketball Coach to lead the program at Heppner Jr/Sr High School in Heppner, Oregon. This full-time position begins on December 21, 2026, and offers the opportunity to develop young athletes and build a winning program in the Morrow County community.

Role Overview

As the Head Middle School Girls Basketball Coach, you will manage all aspects of program development, from preseason preparation through competitive tournament play. Your role encompasses skill instruction, game strategy, athlete mentorship, and creating an athletic culture where middle school girls build confidence, teamwork, and basketball excellence. You'll work in a collaborative school environment where coaching directly contributes to student development and community pride.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design and lead practice sessions focused on basketball fundamentals, offensive and defensive strategies, and game readiness
• Teach proper technique, conditioning methods, and safety protocols to developing athletes
• Coordinate game schedules, travel logistics, and tournament participation throughout the season
• Assess individual player performance and provide feedback to support athletic growth
• Manage equipment maintenance and ensure compliance with program standards
• Communicate regularly with parents, school administrators, and athletic staff about team progress
• Cultivate sportsmanship, discipline, and respect within the program and community

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of basketball skills, fundamentals, and strategic game play
• Completion of all OSAA (Oregon School Activities Association) required coursework and certifications
• Experience coaching youth or middle school basketball programs preferred
• Strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities
• Proven ability to engage and motivate diverse young athletes
• Dedication to athlete safety, well-being, and athletic development
• Familiarity with athletic compliance and record management procedures
