Group Therapist, Eating Disorders

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential behavioral health organization that provides intensive outpatient programming for individuals in crisis. We are seeking a Group Therapist to join their specialized eating disorders program serving adults across Illinois through a fully virtual platform.

In this role, you will facilitate evidence-based group therapy sessions and provide therapeutic support during meals and snacks. You'll work within a collaborative treatment team that includes dietitians, primary therapists, family therapists, and psychiatrists to deliver comprehensive care to patients with eating disorders and co-occurring conditions.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate evidence-based therapy groups using CBT-E, exposure therapy, DBT, ACT, and general CBT interventions
• Deliver structured curriculum content with fidelity while adapting pacing and examples to fit group composition and patient acuity
• Recognize and address co-occurring presentations including OCD, trauma, and mood disorders during group sessions
• Provide therapeutic support during supervised meals and snacks, including direct observation, coaching, and post-meal interventions
• Identify and respond to eating disorder behaviors, rituals, and accommodation-seeking patterns
• Support patients experiencing distress during and after eating blocks using program-aligned skills
• Communicate clinical observations to the treatment team during daily rounds
• Contribute group-based insights to overall case formulation
• Document group participation and clinical observations in the electronic medical record
• Participate in required training, fidelity monitoring, supervision, and consultation activities

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Psychologist or master's level therapist credential
• Hold or be eligible to obtain a master's level provisional or independent clinical license in Illinois
• 1+ years of post-Master's clinical experience or a relevant Master's level internship
• Experience with patients in crisis and passion for working in high-acuity environments

Strongly Preferred:

• Experience treating eating disorders
• Experience treating OCD, anxiety, PTSD, and/or depression
• Background in PHP, IOP, residential, or inpatient settings
• Passion for facilitating group therapy and collaborative work
• Core skill set in CBT and DBT modalities
• Working knowledge of eating disorder treatment conceptualization and co-occurring conditions
• Ability to deliver interventions addressing maintaining mechanisms without accommodating or reassuring distressed patients
• Practice within a weight-inclusive framework
• Adopt an "all foods fit" approach to clinical nutrition
• Comfort working within defined curriculum and fidelity expectations
• Actively seek and utilize supervision and consultation
