About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential technology organization seeking expert Software Engineers for a contract engagement focused on AI model training. This is a part-time remote position requiring approximately 15 hours per week. You'll leverage your software engineering expertise to create reinforcement learning environments that test AI systems' ability to solve complex coding challenges.

This role is ideal for engineers with strong open source profiles who want to contribute to next-generation AI development while maintaining flexibility in their schedule. No prior AI experience is required—your domain expertise in software engineering is what matters.

Responsibilities

• Create reproducible environments and golden reference solutions for complex software engineering problems
• Contribute expert-level code samples, debugging strategies, and development insights in languages including Python, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software defects and performance bottlenecks across diverse codebases
• Implement robust new features with focus on scalability, maintainability, and software best practices
• Refactor and optimize legacy code to improve clarity, efficiency, and long-term reliability
• Document technical reasoning, solution approaches, and code decisions to enhance AI training data quality
• Review and validate peer-contributed code and technical submissions for accuracy and clarity

What We're Looking For

• Significant hands-on expertise in at least one of: Python, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript
• Active open source contribution history with a public GitHub or GitLab profile demonstrating your work
• Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles
• Proven ability to debug complex systems, resolve bugs, and deliver effective optimizations
• Experience with large codebase refactoring and legacy system modernization
• Track record of delivering high-impact features from conception through delivery
• Strong documentation and communication skills to articulate technical concepts clearly
• Interest in or curiosity about AI and its technical challenges
• Availability to commit approximately 15 hours per week to this engagement

How We Work With You
