Senior Forward Deployed Scientist

About This Role

We are representing a confidential enterprise software organization in their search for a Senior Forward Deployed Scientist to join their Supply Chain & Retail division in London. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of cutting-edge AI research and real-world commercial impact, solving high-stakes problems for some of the world's largest retailers and manufacturers.

In this role, you'll take advanced machine learning, optimization, and agentic systems out of the lab and deploy them directly into live customer environments—where solutions must deliver measurable business value. You'll own the science from start to finish: understanding complex customer realities, building bespoke solutions, and driving them to production.

Responsibilities

• Lead customer engagements end-to-end, from problem framing through solution delivery, working directly with customer teams to drive commercial impact
• Apply and adapt frontier ML, forecasting, and optimization techniques to complex problems in demand forecasting, pricing, promotion optimization, and supply-chain decision-making
• Translate field learnings into product direction, ensuring each engagement strengthens the core platform for future customers
• Operate autonomously across diverse stakeholder groups—from technical data scientists to C-suite executives—making critical judgment calls to ship solutions
• Stay current with emerging developments in applied AI and agentic systems, bringing innovative approaches back to the team
• Build production-grade solutions that hold up under real-world commercial pressure, not just in controlled environments

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record applying ML and data science to real-world commercial problems, with depth in forecasting, optimization, or supply-chain/pricing domains
• Ownership mindset—you take ambiguous problems and drive them to completion rather than waiting for direction
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with the ability to quickly adopt new tools as problems demand
• Excellent communication abilities—you can guide executives from confusion to confidence and explain complex models to non-technical audiences
• Comfort operating in ambiguous environments with direct customer contact and a fast-paced shipping culture
• Bonus: experience with agentic or LLM-based systems, or building ML solutions in production environments
