About the Role
As our GIS Lead Analyst, you'll architect geographic data solutions, oversee analytical workflows, and mentor junior team members in geospatial technologies. You'll bridge technical GIS implementation with business requirements, ensuring our spatial datasets and systems deliver actionable insights. This role demands both deep technical proficiency and the leadership capability to elevate team performance across GIS projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize GIS databases, mapping systems, and spatial analysis workflows
- Lead technical decisions on GIS software, data infrastructure, and analytical methods
- Develop and document GIS standards, best practices, and training materials
- Mentor and guide GIS analysts in spatial problem-solving and technical skill development
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into geospatial solutions
- Manage GIS project timelines, quality assurance, and stakeholder communication
- Evaluate emerging GIS tools, platforms, and technologies for organizational fit
Who We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional GIS experience, with 2+ years in a lead or senior analytical capacity
- Expert proficiency in ArcGIS, QGIS, or equivalent GIS software platforms
- Strong foundation in spatial databases (PostGIS, SQL Server, geodatabases) and data management
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement GIS projects from conception through delivery
- Experience mentoring or training GIS professionals
- Excellent communication skills for translating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Problem-solving mindset and comfort working independently in a remote environment
